AMB Statement

I’m interested in painting cities by water: how the light and colour from them is reflected on the harbour, river or sea, e.g. in Hong Kong, Venice, New York. I am, at present, particularly interested in movement and cycles in Nature, which involve landscapes and seasons: my paintings are semi-abstract. Having learned Chinese brushwork and European painting techniques, my main aim is to combine East and West – my brushwork and composition is mainly Eastern, combined with a western individuality of expression. Being an elected member of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales I paint a lot in watercolours and also use acrylic on canvas.
